The project is aimed at promoting and protecting the rights of persons with albinism in Malawi and is being implemented in 6 districts namely; Dowa, Lilongwe, Ntcheu, Mangochi, Chiradzulu and Chikwawa. Persons with albinism have been subjected to various attacks in Malawi since 2016 and most communities have misconceptions and myths regarding persons with albinism which perpetuate the attacks against them as such they live in fear. The project is being implemented under the following objectives: To protect, promote and defend the fundamental rights of persons with albinism in Malawi; Empower Persons with Albinism with necessary skills and knowledge to understand their rights and hold duty bearers to account; and Strengthen the governmental systems (policies and legal frameworks) to protect, promote and defend the rights of persons with albinism.
